For this production, I designed and created a scale model of a British bookstore with a flat above. This model had a strip of red LED lights inside which I soldered to a battery clip and a switch which is hidden at the back of the model. The model also had a access hole designed for a provided smoke machine. The LED and smoke machine mechanics were hidden by a false back inside the model. The smoke and red LEDs were designed to mimic a fire in the house to show the characters home being attacked. The roof of the model acts as a lid so the battery can be easily change inside the model. The perspex windows are open so smoke can escape from these. The walls are hand carved foamboard on top of a timber frame. I created this model from scratch, including creating the frame, carving the bricks, weathering the tiles and hand painting fine details, like the bookstore sign. I created the concept art for this model using photoshop, after meeting with the director.
